New Delhi: Bharti Airtel Foundation, the charitable division of Bharti Enterprises, is celebrating its 25th anniversary by introducing the esteemed ‘Bharti Airtel Scholarship Program.’ This scholarship initiative, which combines merit and financial need, is dedicated to assisting deserving students from various socioeconomic backgrounds, with a particular emphasis on female students. The program supports those pursuing undergraduate and integrated engineering programs (up to 5 years) in the top 50 National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) (Engineering) colleges, such as Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar and others. Eligible students can apply for the August 2024 admissions. Initially commencing with 250 students this year, the program is structured to grow gradually with successful implementation in each cohort. The goal is to extend the program to benefit 4,000 scholars, with an annual budget exceeding ₹100 crore as it reaches its peak.
The fully funded scholarship aims to remove financial obstacles that impede deserving students, particularly those from underprivileged backgrounds, from accessing high-quality education. It is designated for students with a yearly family income of no more than ₹8.5 lakhs. The Bharti Airtel Scholarships will concentrate on undergraduate and integrated courses in areas such as Electronics & Communication, Telecom, Information Technology, Computer Sciences, Data Sciences, and Emerging Technologies like AI, IoT, AR/VR, Machine Learning, and Robotics at the top 50 NIRF (Engineering) colleges.
Scholarship recipients will be recognized as “Bharti Scholars.” They will be granted full coverage of their college fees for the entire duration of their studies, along with a laptop. Moreover, eligible students can also apply for assistance with hostel and mess fees. The core belief is to ensure that the benefits of accessing quality higher education are sustained over time. Bharti Scholars will be encouraged to voluntarily support at least one student continuously once they graduate and secure employment. This long-lasting initiative aims to transform lives, empowering young individuals to engage in India’s economic opportunities and growth.
