Bengaluru: Green Infrastructure Renewable Energy Limited and Yarrow Infrastructure Private Limited, both subsidiaries of Sembcorp Industries (Sembcorp), have successfully set up a 60KWp rooftop solar power system for Sri Sathya Sai Karunyaniketanam Gurukul in Tumakuru, Karnataka. This school caters to underprivileged children.
The rooftop solar power system was launched by Sadguru Sri Madhusudan Sai, the founder of Sri Madhusudan Sai Global humanitarian mission. The event was graced by esteemed government officials, including Sri T.B. Jayachandra, Karnataka’s Special Representative to Delhi and Sira Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA), as well as Shri CB Suresh Babu, Chikkanayakanahalli MLA.
Sri Sathya Sai Karunyaniketanam Gurukul, managed by Prashanthi Balamandira Trust, provides education to approximately 450 students across a 48-acre campus. By implementing this rooftop solar system, the Gurukul can prevent over 70,000kg of CO2e emissions annually, which is comparable to the emissions produced by more than 16 cars driven in a year.
As a prominent renewable energy firm in Asia, Sembcorp acknowledges its role in facilitating an energy transition that takes into account broader communities, with a focus on initiatives that generate substantial and enduring effects. This endeavor harnesses Sembcorp’s capabilities to assist communities in reducing carbon emissions by backing the implementation of solar power systems in the areas it serves.
